Day 2

We made it to Columbus, Nebraska early this morning and we're glad we did. We took off from Goodland around 7am under clear skies but that quickly changed.

Before long we got to the edge of a cold front and ceilings started lowering.

We had no problem remaining in VFR conditions and were treated to some favorable winds on that leg. It was actually a very relaxing and calm leg with an easy fly-by.
Once we did our fly-by in David City and landed in Columbus, we realized that some nasty weather was approaching.

We sat it out and kept waiting for ceilings to lift and the weather to improve but it didn't. We finally called it a day at 6pm.

We had hoped to make it to Watertown, South Dakota today, leaving only 4 legs of the race remaining but the headwinds and weather sucked so we decided to stay in Nebraska. There are about 15 teams still here and many more behind us in Goodland. Only a couple planes after us made it out of Kansas this morning.

We got a good hotel room, went to dinner with about 4 other teams and had a good time. Tomorrow we're hoping for better winds and a full day of flying!
