Race Day 1

5 states in one day! We made it to Goodland, Kansas after a long day of flying! We started the day in Lake Havasu and the first stop was Gallup, New Mexico.

We passed a slower Cessna about 20 minutes after departing, and we also flew through our home turf practice areas north of Prescott.

At Gallup we refueled, ate a snack, and took off for Hereford, Texas. When we left Gallup, winds were gusting to around 30, and it was about the same when we landed in TX, except the windsock was like 60 degrees off from the runway heading.

We were greeted with roses after landing :)

We looked at the weather and refueled, and decided to wait a little longer before departing for Kansas in hopes of stronger tailwinds. We think our plan worked pretty welll... 40 knot tailwinds are never a bad thing.

We made it to Goodland (winds were only gusting to 38 knots here... And definitely not straight down the runway) but we made it to our hotel, ordered a pizza, and showered. Now we're coming up with tomorrow's game plan...
