Last day in Havasu

Today was our last full day in Lake Havasu. Tomorrow the race begins!! Today we had meetings from 8am until noon to go over the fly-by procedures for each airport on the race. We also got a safety briefing from the FAA (yay WINGS credit!) that focused on mountain flying and density altitude. The FAA representative was from Flagstaff so it was cool to hear him talk about what it's like flying there and in Sedona, the same airports that we fly into all the time.

Then we mailed all of our unnecessary items (extra clothes and shoes, makeup, hair stuff...) to the hotel at the finish line in Batavia, OH so we won't have to carry the extra weight in our plane. We did remember not to mail our deodorant to the finish line...

After that we had a short break and went to the Nautical Inn for some drinks (just water today) with some friends before dinner.

Then it was dinner time and we were joined at Waldo's BBQ out at the airport by our friends and supporters from ERAU. We had a lot of fun and it was great to see everyone before tomorrow's race start!

We even got flowers!

After dinner we went back to our hotel room to plan for tomorrow. We re-read the rules, studied the fly-bys, checked weather, and came up with our preliminary plan for tomorrow.

We're super excited for the race to start and can't wait to make a position report on our practice area frequency as we fly through it on the first leg of the race tomorrow!
