Wow. What a day

Ok so we had another meeting after lunch...

Then we went to the airport to check on the planes since tstorms are supposed to be coming. Made sure they were both tied down and secured.

Came back, studied the race rules in our nice cool hotel room.

Checked the forecast again... Wasn't looking so hot for tomorrow.

So then we ended up going back to the airport with one of the Daytona pilots cuz she needed to check on an avionics update that was getting done. While we were there and riding across the grass on a golf cart, the mx guy gets a call that the air race is no longer starting in Iowa City. The planes were all officially released back to the pilots and the race is now starting in Alliance, Nebraska. So the 3 of us are like crap, we gotta get out of here ASAP before the bad storms come through. Looked at WX, called flight service; wasn't gonna happen. We tried to get both our planes into the hangar but it was already full with a waiting list. Called the next closest airport in Cedar City to see if they had hangar space, which they did. Couldn't decide whether to go or not. We were told there might be enough room in a hangar here so we waited to see. And there ended up not being room. We put the planes on the ramp, tied them down tight, and hoped they'd be ok.

Ate dinner at Chipotle, decided we'd try to fly out of here IFR in the morning once the thunderstorms passed and went back to our hotel rooms. Then 20 minutes later (which is like 10pm) the Daytona girls came to our room and said we needed to get the planes in a hangar ASAP cuz giant hail and strong winds were coming. Nasty squall line. So after making sure we were doing the right thing and had briefed each other on the wx, altitudes, airspace, etc. we started up and took off. 15 minutes later, both planes were hangared and we were on the road on our way back to our hotel in Iowa City. This is the crap that's coming:
